British police were alerted today after a man was seen climbing the tower where Big Ben is located.
Video on social media shows a barefoot man standing on a ledge several feet above the Elizabeth Tower holding a Palestinian flag.
Police said they were called to the scene at 7:24 a.m. this morning.
A fire engine has now raised a basket for his rescue. Three people standing on the crane are talking to the man, who is a few meters away.
Protesters have shared a video on Instagram, showing a woman in civilian clothes speaking to them.
The woman says, "At some point you have to come down. How long do you think you'll be there? How long do you think you can be there?"
