Ceasefire in the Middle East, EU countries call to respect the agreement;

A key group of Western leaders has issued a joint statement welcoming the two-week ceasefire between the United States, Iran and Israel, while calling on "all parties" to fully respect it, including in Lebanon.

The declaration was signed by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, as well as by the presidents of the European Commission and the European Council.

The statement said the leaders "welcome" the two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan and thank Islamabad for its role in facilitating the agreement. Western leaders called on all parties to implement the ceasefire, including in Lebanon.

" The goal now must be to negotiate a swift and sustainable end to the war within the coming days. This can only be achieved through diplomatic means. We strongly encourage rapid progress towards a substantive negotiated solution. We call on all parties to implement the ceasefire, including in Lebanon ," the statement said.

The two-week ceasefire, reached late Tuesday after intensive mediation by Pakistan, aims to temporarily halt the weeks-long conflict, paving the way for talks in Islamabad that are expected to begin on Friday.

The statement comes at a time when there have been several reports of sporadic attacks and contradictory statements from the parties, particularly regarding the implementation of the ceasefire in Lebanon, where Israel has been carrying out operations against Hezbollah.
