
The European Union (EU) paid in November 2025 the lowest amount for Russian pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) in five years, according to Eurostat data.
In particular, the EU imported Russian gas for a total of 752.5 million euros last November. Pipeline gas purchases amounted to 415 million euros. While it paid 337 million euros for LNG from Russia in the reporting period, which is the lowest amount since August 2023.
The TurkStream pipeline currently remains the only active route for Russian gas supplies to Europe. The remaining volumes are supplied to the region in the form of LNG.
Among the top countries in terms of Russian gas purchases were France (219 million euros), Hungary (215 million euros), Bulgaria (81 million euros), Greece (66 million euros) and Spain (61 million euros). Slovakia paid 45.5 million euros for gas, while Italy paid 4 million euros.
In total, the European Union paid 5.4 billion euros for pipeline gas from Russia in the first 11 months of last year, compared with 6.7 billion euros a year earlier. LNG purchases from Russia during this period amounted to 6.8 billion euros, compared with 6.3 billion euros a year earlier.
