The European Commission has announced its readiness to send 2 million artillery shells to Ukraine and to unlock the remaining 11 billion euros of G7 loans, as part of continued support for Kiev.
European countries are united in their commitment to assist Ukraine in the military, economic, and political fields, recently allocating 1 billion euros to the Ukrainian defense industry from the profits of frozen Russian assets.
"We are on track to meet the target of 2 million shells for Ukraine by 2025 and to provide 11 billion euros in G7 loans. Our 18th sanctions package aims to support this effort ," declared European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
She also stressed the Commission's support for Ukraine's path towards EU membership, calling on member states to open the first block of accession negotiations.
"Ukraine is carrying out reform after reform under tremendous pressure. The accession process is based on merit, and Ukraine deserves to move forward," von der Leyen added.
This commitment comes as evidence of European solidarity to support Ukraine in times of great challenges.
