An honor killing is shaking Turkey. The victim, a teenage girl who was raped and became pregnant, was killed by her fiancé after he learned what had happened to the 18-year-old.
Oya Budak, 18, was five and a half months pregnant when she was shot by her fiancé.
She was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, but died along with her baby, local media reported.
Budak allegedly became pregnant after being raped by another man a few weeks before her engagement.
It is said that her fiancé ended the relationship when he realized the situation.
The man, 19, was arrested in Istanbul and confessed to the crime, according to Turkish media.
Her grandfather, Orhan Budak, revealed that her fiancé learned about the pregnancy when he took her to the hospital in pain.
The girl's family was unaware of the rape and pregnancy, while her fiancé reportedly no longer wanted to marry her.
