Shortly before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's press conference, his office staff asked journalists to put their phones in "flight mode," in an unusual security measure.
The request is related to security concerns at a time when Netanyahu would be physically close to journalists, at a time of high tension and increased risk of incidents.
This action reflects the level of alarm in Israel, while the escalation with Iran remains open and unpredictable.
In his statements, Netanyahu accused Iran of trying to exert global pressure. "Iran is trying to blackmail the world - it will not succeed," he said.
He warned of the consequences of a more militarily empowered Iran: "Imagine how the Iranian regime would blackmail the entire world if it had ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads."
The Israeli prime minister stressed that Iran poses a threat to the entire world and to the United States, adding that he has discussed the issue with dozens of international leaders.
At the same time, he praised the role of the US, stating that "the world is indebted to President Trump" for leading efforts to protect global security.
Netanyahu added that Israel is contributing in its own way to keeping the strategic straits open, in a reference to the importance of Hormuz in global energy trade.
