US President Donald Trump commented on the latest developments in the war with Iran during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Trump again called the conflict an "excursion," emphasizing that the intervention was necessary. "I had to take this little 'excursion' and do something that no other president has had the courage to do," he said.
He added that he has no plans to send US troops to the ground. "I'm not sending troops anywhere. And if I did, I wouldn't tell you," the US president declared.
During his speech, Trump also criticized NATO, saying that Japan would act "at the right height," unlike the military alliance.
The US president also said that the conflict will end "very soon", while claiming that Iran's military capabilities have been severely hit.
"Their naval headquarters is gone, their air force is gone, their air defenses are gone. We fly wherever we want... and their leadership is gone," Trump declared.
