Terrible balances come from the bloody conflict between Hamas and Israel. According to the United Nations Children's Fund, in a week of fighting more than 700 children are reported to have been killed in Gaza and another 2,450 injured.

Saturday's figures are an update to UNICEF's statement on Friday, which said hundreds of children have been killed and injured, noting that the number rises by the hour.
"The killing of children must be stopped. The images and stories are clear: children with horrific burns, mortar wounds and missing limbs. Hospitals are completely overwhelmed to treat them ," said UNICEF spokesman James Elder.
Elder joined calls from the international community saying: Israeli children held hostage in Gaza must be reunited safely and once and for all with their families and loved ones.
