No new attacks were reported in the Gulf on Saturday, keeping the region relatively calm after weeks of intense escalation. The calm comes after a ceasefire deal reached on Tuesday, when Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week pause in hostilities in an effort to end the war involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which began on February 28.

Direct talks between the delegations and the Iranians are continuing in Islamabad, Pakistan, with Pakistani authorities mediating. These are the first face-to-face negotiations of this level between the US and Iran since 1979. The two sides are discussing the terms of a more lasting solution, including issues such as opening the Strait of Hormuz and stopping attacks.

The temporary peace has allowed governments in the Gulf to assess the damage caused by the recent attacks. In Qatar, authorities have released images showing the impact of attacks in recent weeks, including damage to roads, military bases and oil and gas facilities, such as the Ras Laffan industrial zone. The attacks had severely affected the country's energy infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has released a detailed analysis of the reductions in oil production and extraction, directly linking these declines to damage suffered in key energy locations during the conflict, such as oil fields and processing plants that were hit by drone and missile attacks. Damage to the region's energy infrastructure has also affected global energy prices and trade flows.
