US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Israel declaring that his and the US's main goal is to restore peace.
"Throughout this conflict countries around the world have played an essential role in preventing its spread," he said.
The US official said his country is "focused on the release of the hostages", while adding that "Israel must take every possible measure to prevent civilian casualties".
"What we need to do more than anything else is to stop demonizing each other. If we don't do that, then we do the work of Hamas," he continued.
Blinken says humanitarian pauses can help protect civilians.
"The United States continues to believe that the only possible path is a two-state solution with Israelis and Palestinians having a legitimate right to remain in a state of their own," he adds.
