The Kremlin has dismissed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's threats that Kremlin officials should know where the bunkers are, saying Ukraine is losing the war and its negotiating position is deteriorating.
Zelensky told Axios that Russian power centers, such as the Kremlin, are potential targets, adding that Kremlin officials "must know where the bunkers are."
"Zelensky is trying to show the Europeans, who are now acting as porters, that he is such a brave soldier," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on state television.
"Meanwhile, the situation on the front shows the opposite. With each passing day, the situation in Ukraine is getting worse and worse. And every day Ukraine's negotiating position is getting worse," he added.
Russia controls 114,918 square kilometers, or about 19 percent of Ukraine, and has occupied 4,729 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory over the past year, according to DeepState.
Asked by Russian state television's Kremlin correspondent Pavel Zarubin how the Kremlin would perceive an attack on the center of Russian power, Peskov replied that "it's better not to discuss this at all."
Ruthless bombing of Kiev
Meanwhile, Russia launched 595 drones and 48 missiles overnight, according to the Ukrainian military, against Kiev and other regions of Ukraine, killing at least four people and wounding dozens more, in one of the longest attacks since the start of the war. The Ukrainian military said air defense forces shot down 568 drones and 43 missiles and stressed that the main target of the attack was the capital Kiev. Emergency services said at least four people were killed, while 67 people were injured according to local officials in different parts of the country.
Moscow, for its part, announced that it had hit military targets during the nighttime bombing. “Last night, the armed forces of the Russian Federation launched a massive air and sea strike with high-precision and long-range weapons and drones against the facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as against the military airport infrastructure,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a press release.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack lasted more than 12 hours and caused extensive damage to a cardiology clinic, factories and apartment buildings.
"Moscow wants to continue to fight and kill and deserves only the harshest pressure from the world," Zelensky said via the Telegram app.
In western Ukraine, Poland said it had mobilized its air force "preventively" after about 20 Russian drones and three fighter jets entered its airspace in less than two weeks. Authorities said the measures were aimed at protecting the population, mainly in areas bordering Ukraine.
