They want to turn our movement into a general strike, but we will not allow ourselves to be subjugated to political interests. We are, like Charles de Gaulle before us, distrustful of political parties and organizations.
Julien Marissiaux, the initiator of the blockade against Macron, speaks in an interview about unions, freemasons and investment bankers.
The "Essentialist" movement is gaining massive support in France. Their toxic mix of social rebellion, confused paranoia, and hardline populism is gaining ground.
Julien Marissiaux is a freelance communications and marketing professional. A few months ago, he founded the local collective "Les Essentiels" with the aim of creating a forum for workers in precarious situations.
Most of the 500 "essentialists" are close to the Yellow Vests, who plunged France into a severe social crisis in 2018.
Marissiaux, 43, lives in northern France; he is married and has two school-age daughters. “Providing a future is the main goal of his commitment,” said the boss of “Essentiels.”
He further explains that "we are a 100% civic movement, independent of all parties."
"They want to turn our movement into a general strike, but we will not allow ourselves to be subjugated to political interests. We are, like Charles de Gaulle before us, distrustful of political parties and organizations," he said.

Mr. Marissiaux, you want to "block everything" in France on September 10. What exactly?
Decisions are made at the end, usually in local organizations. There is a call to stop credit card payments and demand that salaries be paid in cash. Furthermore, we will not work; we will take leave, we will take sick leave. The administration will be closed and we will not fill out forms online. Symbolic buildings such as city halls will be blocked, strategic places such as fuel depots will be closed and airports will be paralyzed.
Are you afraid of riots like those during the "yellow vest" period?
No, the demonstrations are not planned. We consider such gatherings pointless. They usually end in violence, which allows the ruling class and the mainstream media to undo the movement. This is certainly what happened with the Yellow Vests. We believe that it is more efficient to block fuel depots or provoke a collective withdrawal of funds from banks. This exerts more pressure.
So there's no chaos on the streets of Paris? That's hard to imagine.
What we want goes much further: We want to dismantle the neo-capitalist system that is destroying us and robbing us. President Emmanuel Macron, a former investment banker, is a puppet of the EU and capital. He has nothing but contempt for citizens. But the entire political class is collecting exorbitant salaries, while we, the representatives of the lower classes, must tighten our belts, as Prime Minister François Bayrou says.
His government could fall as early as this Monday under the pressure of your movement. Are you surprised by your influence?
No, we are many and strong. But the question of who Macron will appoint as the next prime minister does not particularly interest us. What matters is that the system is over. Democracy no longer works and political parties no longer represent even two percent of the population. That is why parties and unions are trying to interfere in our movement.
Who are you closer to, right-wing populist Marine Le Pen or left-wing radical Jean-Luc Mélenchon?
With none! We are a 100% civic movement, independent of all parties. They want to turn our movement into a general strike, but we will not allow ourselves to be subordinated to political interests. We are - like Charles de Gaulle before us - distrustful of political parties and organizations.
According to the website "Essentiels", you also denounce the power of the Freemasons. A joke for the right.
We support political transparency, reject secret societies and fight political corruption. Decision-making power must return to the people. We are no longer willing to play the role of sub-citizens. /Adapted from Fr.de/
