Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has announced the urgent approval of a decree that strengthens the embargo on arms sales to Israel.
Sánchez stressed that his government has taken nine measures against genocide in the Gaza Strip.
"The government thinks that defending your country is one thing, but bombing hospitals or letting people die of hunger is completely different ," said the head of the Spanish executive.
The new decree prohibits ships or aircraft carrying weapons or fuel destined for the Israeli military from stopping at Spanish ports or using its airspace.
Sanchez made the decision to officially recognize Palestine as a state in May of this year.
