The son of one of the founders of Hamas has called on Israel to kill his father if the group does not release all hostages. Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, called on Israel to give Hamas a deadline to release all hostages or kill its leaders, including his father.
"Israel cannot continue like this. Hamas should have a time limit, one or two or six months to return the hostages, and if it does not return the hostages within the time frame, Israel should execute senior Hamas leaders in prison. When I say execute senior leaders, I mean everyone without exception. This includes my father. I made a mistake, 10 or 15 years ago, when I saved his life many times. He should have died for his actions. I saved his life. Things didn't change, things got worse," he said.
The 45-year-old, who worked undercover as a spy for Israel between 1997 and 2007, said killing Hamas leaders and returning Israeli hostages would be a loss for Hamas.
Youssef said he did not agree with Israel's compromise on releasing prisoners in exchange for hostages because the former prisoners would go on to kill far more innocent people and that criminals should not be rewarded for their crimes.
Yusef's father was last released from an Israeli prison in July this year after spending 21 months in prison. The Hamas leader has been in and out of prison for more than two decades, according to Middle East Monitor.
For several days, Hamas has released groups of hostages in exchange for prisoners. The Israeli Red Cross hosted the sixth group on Wednesday.
After the successful release of the most vulnerable group of hostages, Israel must give Hamas a timeframe to release the remaining hostages. If they fail Israel must execute Hamas mass murderers in Israeli prisons. No exception, Sheikh Hassan Yousef is included. pic.twitter.com/xpeVKHuLX4
