Pavel Prigozhin, son of late Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, has taken the leadership position in the mercenary group.
According to Russian media, Wagner is now a unit of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya).
On the "Telegram" channel associated with Pavel Prigozhin, it was announced that all members of Wagner were required to sign individual contracts with the Ministry of Defense.
The new unit will have a brand new base that will be built from scratch in the Northern Military District.
However, the structure, commanders and way of interaction between the fighters will remain unchanged.
The group's announcement also states that they are currently recruiting new people and are accepting candidates between the ages of 20 and 55, with mandatory training during the first month.
Pavel Prigozhin became the leader of the group after his father Yevgeny died on August 23 in a plane crash.
Yevgeny Prigozhin once said that his son Pavel served his military service and that a month after graduation he went to Syria as part of Wagner, where he stayed until September 2022. He received Wagner's Black Cross for his military service.
It was also speculated that Pavel was in Ukraine with Wagner. There is a photo of him circulating on social media showing the junior in front of a hotel in Luhansk, which was later destroyed in the fighting between Wagner and the Ukrainian army.
