Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Kiev has begun the process of "returning the war to Russian territory," after dozens of Ukrainian drones headed toward Moscow overnight.
According to Russian authorities, nearly 60 Ukrainian drones were intercepted as they flew towards the Russian capital, forcing Moscow airports to temporarily suspend operations. Across Russia, authorities reported shooting down more than 300 drones.
In an interview given on Sunday evening, Zelensky said that Ukraine's industry and defense forces have begun to respond more directly to Russian attacks.
"The Russians attack us every day and we will respond every day. Our response will become stronger with each passing day," he declared.
Meanwhile, in northern Ukraine, a Russian drone strike killed three members of the same family, including a 13-year-old boy, in the Sumy region, regional prosecutors confirmed, according to Reuters.
The latest developments are considered an indicator of changes in the dynamics of the war between Russia and Ukraine, an issue that was also discussed by G7 and European Union leaders last week.
