A member of the Ukrainian parliament has been charged with high treason following an investigation by the country's security service and the prosecutor general's office.
Based on the findings, People's Deputy Nestor Shufrych has been charged with "anti-Ukrainian activities", including "subverting the information space".
According to the investigation, Shufrych worked closely with and carried out instructions from Volodymyr Sivkovych - a Moscow agent responsible for "coordinating Russian assets in Ukraine".
"Shufrych's main task was to subvert the information space. He systematically spread the Kremlin's false narratives that the Ukrainian state is 'an artificial entity, ' that Ukraine and Russia have a history, and that Ukrainians and Russians are 'one people ,'" the service said. of security in a statement.
The Ukrainian MP risks a long time in prison, as this offense is punishable by up to 15 years.
