A leading defense and security expert has said he is "certain" the Kremlin is hiding behind the reported death of mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin.
He says they used a bomb to attack the plane in which Prigozhin was traveling.
"On the one hand, we don't know a lot of specific details about how it [the plane] went down," Mark Galeotti, senior fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, told Sky News.
"We can be fairly certain, however, that this was a bomb and that the Russian state is behind it. [This is] not least because they are not for a moment pointing the finger elsewhere, which would be the technique of their usual", he said.
There has been much speculation as to how the plane could have crashed, with Mr. Galeotti convinced an explosive did it.
"It appeared very suddenly and then fell almost vertically downwards, which is very much the kind of flight path that would be expected if there was a bomb on the plane," he concluded.
