The Chairman of the UK Defense Committee, Tobias Ellwood, has made a strong statement as he says that Russian President Vladimir Putin's days are numbered.
Tobias Ellwood, said in a statement to Skynews that he did not agree with what analysts have assessed on the death of Yevgeny Prighozin, that the main threat of Putin is now annihilated and the Russian president may now be stronger.
He offers a very different view, highlighting the weakening of Vladimir Putin in domestic politics.
According to Ellwood, "trust in the Kremlin's inner circle is gone," and Putin is now "being driven more by fear than by loyalty."
"Most importantly, Russian oligarchs and elite no longer see him as a 'capable guarantor' of their status. Putin is “deeply humiliated on a number of fronts. The Wagner group was a "very scary unit" in Ukraine, which is no longer on Putin's side, he said.
Ellwood made a brief description, based on the history of Russia, of what may happen next.
"When a Russian leader loses popularity among the elites, then Russian history shows that weakness is quickly and ruthlessly exploited. And I doubt he will be replaced, maybe not in the short term, but certainly the ball has now been set in motion. I believe that Putin's days are numbered", concluded the British politician.
