Elon Musk has announced that he will "reward" one million dollars to anyone who signs his online petition for the right to own a gun in the US.
The billionaire promised at a rally on Saturday in support of Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump that he would randomly pick one person from his petition signers every day until the November 5 election.
The winner was a man named John Dreher. The only criterion, according to Musk, was that he had signed his petition in favor of the first and second amendments to the US Constitution, which guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
"John had no idea, by the way," Musk said as he handed Dreher the check.
The money is the latest example of how Musk is using his wealth to influence the presidential race between Trump and Democratic challenger Kamala Harris.
