The Winds of the Great War? Tehran Threatens Israel's Allied Bases, Britain

The conflict between Iran and Israel continues to escalate...

The crisis between Israel and Iran has entered an alarming new phase, with the gradual involvement of major global powers and warnings that are raising fears of an irreversible escalation. In an open and direct threat, Iran declared that it would strike any US, British and French military bases in the Middle East if these countries intervene to help Israel in the current conflict.

In immediate response to these warnings, the UK has begun moving fighter jets and other Royal Air Force (RAF) assets to the region. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during a trip to the G7 summit in Canada, confirmed that “military assets, including fighter jets, are already moving to the Middle East” as part of preparations for any possible scenario. However, he declined to comment on whether Britain had received advance notice of the Israeli attacks, stressing that “communications with allies, including the US, are ongoing.”

Meanwhile, a new worrying element in this geopolitical equation is the positioning of China, which has come out publicly in support of Iran. The Chinese Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Israeli attacks and stressed that it supports “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Beijing has called for immediate de-escalation and has expressed its willingness to play a mediating role, but its position close to Tehran reinforces global strategic divisions.

In this context, analysts warn that the scenario of a global conflict is no longer just speculation. Iran's open threat to attack Western bases, Britain's military engagement, and China's positioning as Iran's diplomatic ally constitute a dangerous escalation that could expand the conflict beyond the Middle East.

Faced with a polarized world and an increasing risk of direct clashes between great powers, the question that arises with concern is: are we approaching a global military confrontation? And if so, will diplomacy be able to stop this spiral before it is too late? For now, the alarm is on. /Pamphlet
