The crisis between Israel and Iran has taken on new dimensions after a strong statement from China, which described the Israeli intervention as a serious violation of international law and Iran's sovereignty. Beijing's reaction comes through Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi, expressing full support for Tehran.
"We firmly oppose the brutal attacks on Iranian officials and civilian victims. We support Iran in defending its national sovereignty and legitimate rights," Wang Yi said, calling the attack on Iranian nuclear facilities "a dangerous precedent with catastrophic consequences."
In another diplomatic communication, Wang urged Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar to immediately stop any military action that could escalate the conflict and endanger peace in the Middle East. "Immediate action is needed to avoid deep unrest in the region and return dialogue to the center of crisis resolution," he added.
China's clear position comes at a time when tensions between Israel and Iran are escalating and major countries are openly positioning themselves in the face of a conflict that threatens global stability. Beijing calls on the international community to intervene diplomatically to stem the escalation and guarantee peace in the Middle East.
