Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the UN and Western countries, calling them "mere witnesses to the humanitarian crimes" committed by Israel in Gaza.

 "Neither the Western powers nor the UN Security Council have made a useful effort to prevent Israeli violence," he said, according to the Anadolu news agency.

Erdogan slammed the Security Council's failure to impose a ceasefire in Gaza after the United States vetoed an Arab draft resolution.
