Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah canal.
He also appealed to the whole world that cutting off electricity, water and food for 2 million people is a violation of human rights.
" While we have experienced the negative effects of the Ukraine-Russia war, the events between Israel and Palestine have increased our concern even more. I appeal to the whole world that cutting off the supply of water, electricity and food to 2 million people trapped in a radius of 360 kilometers is a violation of the most basic human rights. Punishing the people of Gaza will cause more tears ," he said among other things.
According to Erdogan, Turkey is continuing negotiations for the release of the kidnapped and finding solutions to the crisis that is plaguing the wider region, unlike the US which, according to him, only increases tensions by sending warships near Israel.
The Turkish president added that a plane carrying Turkish aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip landed in Egypt at noon and that his country intends to continue sending humanitarian aid in coordination with Cairo.
" While we, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are doing this (a humanitarian aid mission), the US and Great Britain are talking about sending aircraft carriers. I wonder if these are included in the declaration of human rights. We are concerned. If you have the slightest respect for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we should talk about what kind of help we can offer here. We will continue to send our humanitarian aid to Gaza. We call on all parties to reason and discuss lasting peace. Today, Gaza is oppressed and victimized. Israel is not in such a situation ," said the Turkish president.
