As Zelensky and Von der Leyen held a press conference in Brussels ahead of their meeting with Donald Trump tomorrow, the US president reacted on the social network "Truth Social".
He heralded good news regarding peace in Ukraine.
"Great progress with Russia. Stay online. President DJT," he writes.
Trump described it as fake news and a deliberate distortion of the truth, while saying that the meeting in Alaska was excellent.
"If I were to convince Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News and their PARTNER, the Radical Left Democrats, would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal," Trump wrote.
During the conference, Zelensky stressed that Europe must be united for true peace to happen.
"Putin has many demands, but we don't know them all. A trilateral summit between Ukraine, Russia and the US is necessary," the Ukrainian president said.
Von der Leyen stressed that it is important to stop the killings.
"This is the most important part. Whether we call it a ceasefire or a peace agreement ," she said.
Zelenskyy added that he "fully agrees and that concrete steps should be determined on how to achieve lasting peace."
