French far-right leader Marine Le Pen has openly criticized the United States for its attack on Iran, calling it a “clear mistake.” In an interview with France Inter radio, she said that the American assessment of the Iranian regime’s weakness had been incorrect.
"What I see is that the US has clearly made a mistake, thinking that the Iranian regime would fall in a few days. It has not fallen. The Iranian regime is extremely strong ," declared Le Pen, president of the National Rally (RN).
She raised questions about the objectives of the war launched by former President Donald Trump, emphasizing that there is a lack of clarity about the ultimate goal of the conflict. According to her, the current situation creates great uncertainty in the international arena.
Le Pen also stressed that the escalation of the conflict has had a significant impact on the Gulf region, causing imbalances in energy supplies. She also mentioned the impact on Europe, citing the interruption of Russian oil supplies to Hungary as an example.
On the political front, Le Pen described Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as a symbolic figure of resistance to the European Commission and confirmed her support for allies during the electoral processes, emphasizing that this does not constitute interference in internal affairs.
Meanwhile, the conflict in the region has continued to escalate since late February, when the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. According to reports, over 1,300 people have been killed so far. Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks on several countries in the region, causing casualties, damage to infrastructure and impacts on global markets.
