Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that it has targeted oil and petrochemical facilities in Persian Gulf countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard described its military action as a response to an attack on a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, in southwestern Iran, for which Israel has claimed responsibility, and an attack on a major bridge just outside Tehran, the state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Television (IRIB) reported.
The "first phase" of Iran's response was carried out this morning, IRIB said, citing the Revolutionary Guard.
Iran claimed responsibility for attacks on American-linked gas and petrochemical facilities in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, also warning that it would escalate attacks on US interests if attacks on civilian infrastructure were repeated.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard also said an oil refinery in Haifa, northern Israel, was targeted. CNN could not independently verify the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's claims.
Authorities in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, said today that debris from air defense interceptors falling on a petrochemical plant resulted in three fires. No injuries were reported from the incident, but the site was damaged, the city's media office said.
