German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said during a visit to Egypt as part of her Middle East mission that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank "belong to the Palestinian people".
On this point, Germany and Egypt "agree," Baerbock said after meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.
An appeal for Muslim countries to support Hamas with "arms" was also made by the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, during a speech at the International Union of Muslim Scholars conference taking place in Doha.
"The role of the Muslim nation is important and the time has come to support armed resistance, because this is the battle of Al-Aqsa and not only the battle of the Palestinian people ," said Haniyeh, referring to the mosque located in Jerusalem and the site the third holiest in Islam.
