Robbery for film script in Milan, thieves return stolen watches to owner: They

A scenario that looks like a Netflix movie has taken place in the heart of Milan; a sophisticated robbery, the surprise return of stolen items and a handwritten letter that has surprised even investigators.

The incident took place at the prestigious hotel "The Westin Palace", where an American tourist was the victim of a spectacular robbery. According to the complaint, a black Tom Ford bag containing AirPods headphones, credit cards, around 900 euros in cash and, above all, four "Richard Mille" brand watches, each valued at around 150 thousand euros, were taken.

But the big surprise came a day later: the bag reappeared in the hotel lobby, inside, partly the money and the four watches, undamaged. Also in the bag was a letter written in Italian, in a messy handwriting: “Gli orologi sono falsi” – “The watches are fake.”

This detail turned the investigation into uncertain terrain. Was this a ruse to avoid criminal punishment? Or an attempt to subvert the police and the legal system? Police have detained a 27-year-old Frenchman, who was behaving suspiciously and is suspected of being an accomplice in the robbery. Meanwhile, Italian authorities are searching for a second person, suspected of being the “mastermind” of the incident – a 19-year-old of Moroccan origin with a criminal record.

As the investigation continues, the case has sparked great interest in Italy, being described as a mix of crime and farce, which should have been a movie script, but which actually happened in one of the most luxurious cities in Europe.
