Hundreds of thousands of citizens and students protested in Belgrade on Saturday, in a protest in which they set an ultimatum for new elections in Serbia and the ouster of President Aleksandar Vučić.
The students have submitted two demands to the Serbian government. The first is for early elections, while the second is for the cessation of the rally in central Belgrade, where supporters of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić have camped out for the past three months, opposing the student protests.

The protesters have expressed their expectation that their demands will be met by 9:00 PM, but the Serbian president has rejected them. At exactly 9:00 PM, the students have called out that "the ultimatum is over."
At the end of the rally, the Serbian gendarmerie and two police brigades intervened, sparking a confrontation with the protesters. Pyrotechnics and flares were also thrown.
For more than seven months, students have been organizing protests across Serbia, demanding accountability for the deaths of 16 people in the collapse of a concrete shelter at the Novi Sad Railway Station.
