The ambassador of the United States of America in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, commented on a "like" that his wife gave to a photo on Instagram where the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the ambassador of Russia there, Aleksandar Bocan Harchenko, were seen.
"What does that mean - that she supports cooperation between Vucic and the Russian ambassador," Hill was asked in an interview with the Serbian newspaper, Nova.
“My wife carelessly follows/likes too many things on Instagram. I think it was a picture she 'liked' and I think she thought it was some school. It's definitely not a political stance, but it also shouldn't be something that serious journalists would engage in," Hill said.
He was asked if his wife's "like" establishes that he, as ambassador, has good private relations with Vucic.
"I have suitable relationships with a large number of people. I am the American ambassador and you can be sure that I work with different people, starting with government representatives. That's my job," Hill said.
