The United States Embassy in Kuwait announced its closure "until further notice" due to ongoing regional tensions.
Through a post on the social network X, the diplomatic mission announced that it has canceled all consular meetings, including planned ones and emergency cases.
The statement noted that the security situation in the region remains volatile. US authorities have urged their citizens in several Middle Eastern countries, including Kuwait, to exercise caution and follow official guidance.
The decision comes at a time of heightened tension in the region, after two drone attacks were reported overnight on the US embassy in Riyadh.
US President Donald Trump told NewsNation that the US would respond “soon” to the attack on the embassy and the deaths of American personnel. In a post on the Truth Social platform, he commented on the US stockpile of “medium and medium-high” ammunition, noting that the country has enough supplies for a prolonged conflict. Trump also criticized former President Joe Biden for sending advanced weapons to Ukraine.
