The Israeli attack on Iran, Tehran warns: There will be bitter consequences!

Tehran has warned that Israel could face retaliation over the latest attack on Iranian military facilities, although the country's supreme leader has shown little willingness to continue the back-to-back attacks between the two regional foes.

Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said on October 28 that Israel would face "bitter consequences" for carrying out airstrikes on Iranian territory two days ago.

The spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, said on October 28 that Tehran will use all the means it has to respond to the Israeli attack. Israel, on the other hand, has said that it has successfully carried out "precise" retaliatory attacks on Iranian military centers.

The attacks - which were in response to Iranian attacks against Israel on October 1, also in response to the killing of an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander - were carried out as concerns grow that Israel could launch a massive attack, raising the possibility of an escalation in a great war between two regional powers.

Experts suggest that the attacks have given Israel and Iran the opportunity to avoid a major regional war.

Iran has said it received warning from Israel before launching the attacks, the latest in a spate of attacks between Israel and Iran linked to Israel's revenge war in Gaza and Iran's role in supporting anti-Israel militant groups in the region.

Iranian officials have insisted that Iranian defenses destroyed most of the missiles in the air on October 26, but have acknowledged that four Iranian soldiers were killed as a result of the attacks.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on October 27 that Israel's actions were "not well calculated", but did not call for an Iranian response.

Khamenei has called on government officials to understand Iran's "capacity," and advised that it is a mistake to "exaggerate" the impact of Israeli attacks, as well as "minimize" them.

Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has been quoted as saying that the Israeli army's actions have not achieved "the goal".

He also said that the attacks were not well thought out and were carried out "in a moment of desperation" for Israel, as the battles against the groups supported by Iran in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon continue.

The Palestinian group Hamas, declared a terrorist by the United States and the European Union, has been fighting with Israel since October last year.

The war has been fueled by Hamas attacks in southern Israel, killing over 1,200 people and taking over 240 hostages.

Some have been released, some are considered dead.

The Israeli offensive in Gaza has killed over 42,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian health authorities.

Israel has also launched a war against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, a part of which it controls.

Hezbollah has been declared a terrorist organization by the United States, while the EU has only the military wing, not the political one, on the blacklist./ REL
