
The head of one of the criminal organizations, who was wanted by Italian law enforcement authorities with a red notice, has been arrested in Istanbul.
The news was given by Turkey's Interior Minister, who announced the arrest of the head of the organized crime organization, Assad Ali Gomaa Khodir.
In his statement on his social media account, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided the following information regarding the operation carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Border Gate Branch Directorate;
"Assad Ali Gomaa Khodir, the leader of the organized crime organization that ensures the illegal passage of irregular migrants to Italy and who is wanted by the Italian judicial authorities with a Red Notice for the crimes of human trafficking and migrant smuggling, was found and arrested in an operation carried out in Fatih, Istanbul."
