The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borell, has reacted regarding the Iranian attack against Israel.
He called on the parties to show restraint and avoid an escalation of the conflict situation.
"On behalf of the EU member states, I condemn the Iranian attacks against Israel and call on all parties to show maximum restraint. I spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abdollahian to convey the same messages to him as well and to ask Iran not to provoke an escalation," Borell said further.
Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel, 99% of which were shot down, in cooperation with partners such as the US and the UK.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has also called for an "extraordinary" meeting with EU foreign ministers. The meeting will be held on Tuesday (April 16), where the focus is on Iran's attack on Israel.
"Our objective is to contribute to the de-escalation and security of the region ," Borrell wrote in a post on the X platform.
