The Israeli army, the IDF, has confirmed that Iran has fired nearly 200 rockets at Israel.
Sirens are blaring across the country as interceptor missiles are launched to shoot them down.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement a few minutes ago that the attack is continuing and has asked civilians to "remain in a protected space until further notice."
"The explosions you are hearing are from falling shells," the IDF said.
Meanwhile, Israel's Army Radio also reports that takeoffs and landings have been suspended at the main international airport, Ben Gurion.
Neighboring Jordanian airspace is also temporarily closed, state media reported.
Witnesses told Reuters they saw dozens of rockets flying over central Jordan toward Israel.
Loud explosions were also heard in the Jordan Valley, which is located on the border between Jordan and the West Bank.
