An unverified photo purportedly depicting the final moments of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has gone viral on social media.
According to Lebanese media outlet Al Mayadeen, the photo was released by Tehran and was reportedly taken on a closed circuit just 23 minutes before the Iranian leader was killed during joint US-Israeli strikes on his office on February 28.
The image, which is said to be the last photo of the Iranian leader, shows him sitting in a chair at his desk and reading.

The authenticity of the image has not been confirmed and some social media users have claimed that the image may have been created using artificial intelligence, questioning how the security camera footage would have survived the fatal shots.
Doubts about its authenticity are reinforced by the fact that the network deleted the post in question shortly afterwards.
Hostilities began on February 28, when US and Israeli military forces launched attacks on Iran, killing Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and several other senior Iranian officials, provoking retaliation from Tehran.
