The Israeli military announced the killing of Muhammad Naif Abu Shamala, commander of a Hamas Nukhba special forces company, during an operation in the Gaza Strip last week.
According to the Times of Israel, Shamala's company was involved in attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, attempting to attack the Mars military outpost near the border town of Kissufim.
He was killed on Wednesday, August 13, by Kfir Brigade troops in the Khan Younis area, the Israeli army announced.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has approved the army's new plans for the occupation of Gaza City, presented last night by IDF Chief of Staff General Eyal Zamir.
The offensive, dubbed "Gideon's Tanks B," is a continuation of a previous operation of the same name, during which the IDF had controlled 75% of the Gaza Strip.
According to reports, the aim of the operation is to put pressure on Hamas to release the hostages.
