The Speaker of Iran's Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that countries in the region that host US military bases could face consequences if tensions continue to escalate.
In a message published on the X platform, Ghalibaf stated that countries hosting US bases in the region "will not enjoy peace," considering these installations as platforms for operations against Iran.
He also referred to the attack on the water desalination plant on Qeshm Island, which Iranian authorities have blamed on the United States. According to him, the attack was carried out "with the support of one of the air bases in neighboring countries to the south."
"This blatant crime will receive a proportionate response," Ghalibaf said, adding that US military bases in the region serve as platforms for operations against Iran.
"The origin of the attacks is also the destination of our response," he concluded.
His statements come at a time of high tension in the Persian Gulf, where clashes between Iran, the US and Israel have included missile and drone attacks on military targets and strategic infrastructure in several countries in the region.
