Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian warned at the United Nations on Thursday that if Israel's retaliation against the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip does not end, then the United States "will not be spared this fire."
" I say frankly to the American statesman, who is managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome the expansion of the war in the region. But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire ", he said at the meeting of the UN General Assembly for the Middle East.
Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas, which runs Gaza, in retaliation for the October 7 attack that killed 1,400 people and took hundreds hostage.
Israel has attacked Gaza from the air, imposed a siege on the enclave, and is preparing for a ground invasion.
On the other hand, the health authorities in Gaza have said that over 7,000 people have been killed by Israeli attacks.
Hamas has told Iran that it is ready to release the hostages, adding that the world should call for the release of 6,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, Amirabdollahian said.
" The Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to play its role in this very important humanitarian situation, together with Qatar and Turkey. Of course, the release of 6,000 imprisoned Palestinians is another need and responsibility of the global community ," he said./ REL
