A missile attack has hit the industrial city of Ras Laffan in Qatar, home to one of the world's largest oil processing centers and the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facility.

According to state-owned company QatarEnergy, the strikes caused significant damage and fires in the area.

"Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to control the resulting fires, as extensive damage was caused. All personnel have been accounted for and no casualties have been reported at this time," the company said in a statement on social media.

Qatar's Interior Ministry also confirmed that the situation is under control. The fire was "preliminarily brought under control" and there were no injuries, authorities said.

Meanwhile, Qatar described the attack as a serious threat to national security and regional stability, using strong tones towards Iran.

"The brazen missile attacks... are a direct threat to our national security and the stability of the region," the official response said.

The Foreign Ministry added that the situation is escalating. "The Iranian side continues its escalating policies that are pushing the region towards the abyss...", the statement said.

Authorities also warned that they would not remain passive in the face of the attack.

"Qatar reserves its right to respond... and will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to protect the sovereignty and security of its citizens," the statement said.

The attack increases tensions in the region, raising concerns about the impact on global energy markets and stability in the Persian Gulf.
