Israeli forces bombed a school in southern Khan Younis in Gaza, killing at least 20 people.
This was announced by the Palestinian news agency Wafa today (December 16), clarifying that there are children among the victims and that many others were injured.
The school is run by the Palestinian refugee agency of the United Nations (UNRWA) and is located near the Nasser medical complex, writes "La Repubblica".
Among those killed by the Israeli bombings was a cameraman from the television 'Al Jazeera'.
The Israeli military claims that the media representative Ahmed al-Louh, killed today in an airstrike in the central Gaza Strip, was a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group.
In a statement, the army said it carried out a drone strike against a group of Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists at a command center based at the offices of the Gaza Civil Defense Organization in Nuseirat.
"The complex was used by terrorists to plan and execute terrorist acts against IDF troops," the army says.
According to the IDF, several terrorists were killed in the attack, including al-Louh, who is accused of having previously served as a platoon commander in the central brigade of Islamic Jihad in Gaza.
The IDF says it took measures to mitigate civilian harm during the attack, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance and other intelligence.
In January, Israel declared that an Al Jazeera journalist and a freelancer killed in an airstrike were terrorists. The following month, he accused another channel journalist, wounded in another attack, of being the deputy commander of a Hamas company.
And in October, the IDF said it had discovered documents in Gaza that showed six active Al Jazeera journalists were active in Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Al Jazeera has strongly rejected Israel's allegations, accusing it of systematically targeting Al Jazeera employees in the Gaza Strip.
