Israeli airstrikes hit a school in central Gaza housing displaced people, killing dozens. Saturday's attack came as negotiators prepared to meet international mediators to discuss a ceasefire proposal. At least 30 people sheltering in a girls' school in Deir Al-Balah were taken to Al Aqsa Hospital and pronounced dead after an attack that the Israeli military said targeted a Hamas command and control center used to store weapons and planning attacks.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army has ordered the evacuation of part of a humanitarian zone in Gaza ahead of a planned attack on the town of Khan Younis.
The evacuation order on Saturday came in response to a rocket attack that Israel said was launched from the area.
The war in Gaza has killed more than 39,200 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health, which does not distinguish between combatants and civilians.
The war began after an attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel on October 7 killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and took 250 hostages.
