Israeli warplanes attacked Hezbollah positions west of the ancient city of Baalbeck in eastern Lebanon yesterday evening.
Lebanese security sources announced that the first attack took place near a farm on the outskirts of the city of Qald al-Sabaa, in the western part of Baalbek.
IDF spokesman Avichay Adreea said Israeli artillery bombarded other Hezbollah positions in Lebanon in retaliation for the militant group's airstrikes on the northern Israeli settlements of Doviv and Avivim.
"As a result of the shooting in the direction of the Doviv area, two citizens were slightly injured ," said Adreea.
Hezbollah, a Lebanese Shiite group backed by Iran, claimed to have attacked Israeli military barracks in Hunin as a sign of support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
"Permission to fight has been given to those who are fighting because they were wrong. And indeed, Allah is able to give them victory," he continued.
The border areas between Israel and Lebanon have been the subject of potential conflict since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. International organizations assessed that the situation between Hezbollah and Israel is very dangerous.
