Foreign Minister Israel Katz responds to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's threat to invade Israel, comparing him to former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
"Erdogan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatening to attack Israel. He just needs to remember what happened there and how it ended," Katz writes in X.
Hussein's regime was toppled by a US-led invasion in 2003 and he was executed by an Iraqi court.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote this on X in response to the Turkish president's words that evoked a possible invasion of Israel. Along with the message, Katz posted a photo of Erdogan and another of the late Iraqi leader.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke out on Sunday about possible military action against Israel, drawing parallels with Turkey's involvement in Karabakh and Libya.
"Just as we entered Karabakh and Libya, we can do the same here. There is nothing we cannot do. We must be very strong," Erdogan said on Sunday.
Erdogan, who has been a fierce critic of Israel's offensive in Gaza, is escalating his rhetoric against Israel, suggesting that Turkey could intervene on behalf of the Palestinians, perhaps with military support, in ways similar to what it has done in other conflicts.
