Following the expansion of Israel's ground operations, Rob Clarke, director of the defense and security unit at Civitas, said that for the first time we will have an underground war.
He said he expects "most of the fighting" to take place in underground tunnels hundreds of miles beneath Gaza.
Clarke that comments from senior Israeli officials suggesting it would be a long war could only be bad news for civilians.
"The outlook for civilians there, who are already living through a nightmare, is very bleak indeed," Clarke said.
He concluded by saying that it is possible to pursue the dual objectives of destroying Hamas and returning the hostages, but that it would be very difficult.
