The head of the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF), Herzi Halevi, confirmed on Sunday that the Israeli army has begun to operate in southern Gaza, while ground operations continue in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Speaking to soldiers in the Gaza Division in southern Israel, Halevi said that in the last two days Hamas battalion commanders and many members have been killed, and since yesterday the same operations have begun in the southern part of Gaza.
" We have the capabilities to do it in the most complete way and as we did it completely in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, we are doing it now in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, and we also continue to deepen the achievements in the northern part ", he adds.
Hamas, for its part, has claimed to have faced Israeli troops in the south of the country.
