
Since the first US and Israeli attacks on Iran, European leaders have been paying close attention to events in Cyprus, an island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is a member of the European Union but not a member of NATO, and is home to two British sovereign military bases. -French President Emmanuel Macron has said his country will deploy eight frigates, two amphibious helicopter carriers and the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the eastern Mediterranean and the Red Sea as a defensive measure.

The United Kingdom is deploying its warship HMS Dragon, as well as two Wildcat anti-drone helicopters, to the Eastern Mediterranean, the country's defense ministry said last week.
-The German navy frigate FGS Nordrhein-Westfalen arrived at the port of Limassol in southern Cyprus on Sunday, according to Reuters.
-The Turkish Defense Ministry said on Monday it had deployed six F-16 fighter jets and air defense systems to the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a region in the north of the island that is controlled by Turkish Cypriots and not recognized as legitimate under international law.
