Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has reacted to the news of Cate Middleton's cancer diagnosis.
He said that Kate had shown "extraordinary bravery" with her statement. Among other things, he wished her a speedy recovery.
"In recent weeks she has come under intense scrutiny and has been unfairly treated by certain sections of the media around the world and on social media. When it comes to health issues, like everyone else, she should be given privacy to focus on her treatment and be with her beloved family ," Sunak stated.
Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer said his thoughts were with the Royal Family, adding he was angered by Catherine's "optimistic tone and her message of faith and hope".
"Every cancer diagnosis is shocking. But I can only imagine the added stress of getting that news amid the gloomy speculation we've seen in recent weeks. William and Kate have a right to privacy and, like any parent, will have waited to choose the right moment to tell their children."
