NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump to discuss "the security situation" in Greenland and the Arctic.
The conversation is taking place at a time when European countries have expressed concern about Trump's threats of additional tariffs against them.
Spoke with @POTUS regarding the security situation in Greenland and the Arctic. We will continue working on this, and I look forward to seeing him in Davos later this week.

"We will continue our efforts on this issue and I look forward to meeting him in Davos at the end of the week, " Rutte wrote on X, without providing further details on the content of the phone conversation.
Yesterday, President Trump threatened eight European countries — Britain, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland — with 10% tariffs starting February 1, rising to 25% on June 1, if they do not support his plans for Greenland. The move has heightened tensions in transatlantic relations and raised concerns about Arctic stability.
